Looking for an Odd Job?

n      I am a citizen who is trying to find a wood crafter to assist with a project. I have a coffee table that I would like to turn into a game table.  This would require having a professional drill holes into (the edging around the main top) in order to create a cribbage board.

I have no idea how to find someone whom I could hire to complete this  project. Do you have any ideas? I live in
Eatonville, Washington so I a  seeking someone from the Yelm, Puyallup, Tacoma and/or Olympia area.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Taking a chance that someone out there might be interested in harvesting a mature cherry tree for woodworking material.

Must be a bonded tree cutter or willing to hire.

Another Job for Hire

From: gordonb@fidalgo.net [mailto:gordonb@fidalgo.net]

I would like to build a sled and am looking for a company to bend the wood for sled runners. The wood is about ¾" X 1 inch square, I think oak, and be about 36 inches long. Can you give me suggestions as to who does wood bending?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

AAW Katrina Relief Auction on eBay

To view the auction, go to www.eBay.com . Your cursor will be flashing in a blank search box. In that box, type the words “AAW Relief Fund”. The next box to the right says “All categories”. Click the “search” button to the right of that and you will see all of the pieces in this charity auction. By clicking on the item title in blue, that particular piece with its description, will be shown.

All of these generous artists have personally donated great art pieces worth a lot of money right out of their pockets. Now it is your opportunity to acquire these pieces and to donate to this worthy cause by not trying to see how low you can buy a piece but instead, how much you can donate over the retail value of the pieces.  If you have any questions, contact John Hill, the Treasurer of the American Association of Woodturners at 828-645-6633 or johnrhill@charter.net . If you need any help registering with eBay, contact AAW member and professional turner Fred Wilson at 321-267-4390 or fredjr@bellsouth.net .

THANKS and GOOD LUCK!

November Mini-Symposium

Thanks to all the members who put on the Mini-symposium – Gary Roth, John Swanson, Carol Zandell, Michael Poirier and Marion Glasgo. By all standards it was a smashing success. There were five stations available to members - tool sharpening, wooden tops, hand cut dove-tails, biscuit jointer/dove tail jigs, lathe boxes.

Surveys were handed out to all asking for their suggestions. The majority were returned and results will be shared at the next business meeting. This will help us set the direction for future programs.

Upcoming Programs:

January – Neil Bonn Segmented Bowls

February – Bonnie Klein

March – Gary Rogowski

April – The 2nd Annual 2 X 4 Challenge

May -  Windsor Chairs with Bill Garner and Lou Vance

June – Super Raffle and Silent Auction
