Meeting Location
The Evergreen Woodworkers Guild meeting has moved! Beginning
with the February meeting, we will be meeting next door to the Edgewood Grange
at the Edgewood Community Church. We
will be in the large building behind the main church. The church was selected
because it is larger, has better parking, accessibility to restrooms, and the
rent is reasonable.
We may have some ‘moving pains’ as we attempt to set up
equipment and seats in our new digs so please bear with us. We are not positive
that we can get in earlier than
Thanks,

Dear Ken,
I would first like to introduce myself. I am
Len Walko from the Guild
of
Tuck, as a special projects coordinator for professional
seminars.
On May
6th and 7th we are having a seminar on building fine dining room
chairs. The speaker, Don DeDobbeleer, is a
professional woodworker from
N.California. He was the winner of "Best
in Show" at the Best of the
Northwest Art and Craft fair at the convention
center in
There were over 40 professional woodworkers in
the competition.
Last year
he did a seminar for our guild and the Siskiyou guild on his
award
winning demilune table.
Our purpose
in contacting you is to inform your members about the
upcoming
event. Complete information is available at
www.guildoforegonwoodworkers.com including photos and a course description.
There is additional information in our Feb and Mar newsletters on our website.
I met
your members at the Tacoma Dome show last year, and thought this
seminar
might be of interest to some of your members. Your guild member
cost
would be the same as our member cost.
Thanks!!!! Len Walko

Hi,
I have a dollhouse which was started about 20 yrs. ago. I
now admit defeat and would be glad to pay someone to make the main construction
of it and then I will decorate. This is
quite a large, 3 story dollhouse.
The fellow who cut out the pieces apparently did not do the
best job of cutting it out according to a cabinetmaker who looked at what I
have. Therefore the plywood may need to
be re-cut.
If anyone is interested, please call Paula at (253)848-9512.
Thanks much.

MENTORING
According
to Webster‘s a mentor is a trusted counselor or guide, a tutor, or coach. As
applied to our guild a mentor is someone who can help with a woodworking
problem you may be having or help you learn a new skill. Our guild is very
fortunate to have a number of mentors who are experts in a particular skill but
most are just like you and I, general
woodworkers, more skilled in some areas then in others.
Prior to
my joining the Evergreen Woodworkers I learned most of what I knew about
woodworking through trial and error. Lots of error, which I can assure you, is
not the preferred way to learn. We have several qualified mentors ready to help
members learn new skills. Visit the
EWWG web site and contact the mentor in your area with the skills you are
interested in by simply calling or clicking on his or her name and email for an
appointment.
