A big thanks to the guild members who participated in our Toy Building Workshops this fall. Those who helped out are Doug Reynolds (the organizer of these workshops), Ken Yeager, Jerry Ableidinger, Carol Zandell, George Knutson, Ken Huff, Paul Peterson, and Gary Nelson.
Also a big thank you to Ron and Michele Hall at Woodcraft for letting us use their classroom for our building and assembling sessions. That gave us plenty of room to spread out and have multiple work areas going at the same time. They’ve offered the same arrangement for next year if we get another group together to build toys again.
(Members in the photo are Ken Yeager, Doug Reynolds (who headed up the toy building drive), and George Knutson. The pastors from Evergreen Bible Church are Ryan Peterson, John Oldright, and Jeff Coulter.)
The group built 40 trucks and cars that were donated to The Evergreen Bible Church, where we hold our monthly meetings. The church is going to distribute the toys through a youth outreach program for needy kids in Pierce County.
We’d love to do this again in 2017, but start earlier. And hopefully involve more members in this great cause. We’ll be talking about future plans at the next couple meetings, so stay tuned. If you’ve got plans for toys you’d like to build, bring them along.
